The Devil’s Anvil
Reveal Description
Hey all, here’s the next chapter in my Cape Cod series! I wanted to challenge myself to try a longer and more complex image sequence. It was fun to use a variety of shot types, lenses and camera angles. I wanted to capture the somewhat cavernous and claustrophobic nature of New England style basements, and use it as a backdrop for the set design.
I was also inspired by the body worlds exhibit I saw back when I was 14. Being a lifelong fan of film noir, it made sense to me to combine these references with a diy/hoarder aesthetic. The red lighting was also experimental, to break out of my comfort zone but also push the psychological idea of the violence. Overall had a lot of fun figuring out these shots!
